Dr. Smith received his undergraduate education at
University of California - Santa Barbara and his medical degree from the University of Southern
California. Dr. Smith entered private practice in San Diego in 1989.
Dr. Smith has a broad range of interests in the
retinal field including management of complex retinal detachments, macular
degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Smith has been named to
The Top
Doctors in San Diego.
Dr. Smith is a member of American Society of
Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Western Retina Study
Club, and the San Diego County Medical Society.
He is a Past President of the San Diego Eye Bank and in addition is a Past
Chief, Department of Ophthalmology, Mercy Hospital.
He is on staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital and Tri-City
Hospital. |

Dr. Robinson received his medical degree
from the University of Cape Town. Prior to starting his ophthalmology
residency, he spent a year with an internationally recognized research
team at the Scheie Eye Institute studying retinal blood flow. Following
his retina fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania he spent a
further year at that facility supervising resident education and
surgery. Dr. Robinson entered private practice in San Diego in 1989.
Dr. Robinson’s interests include macular
degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal vascular diseases.
Dr. Robinson has been named to The Top Doctors in San Diego.
Dr. Robinson is a member of American
Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology,
Western Retina Study Club, California Association of Ophthalmology
and the San Diego County Medical
Society.
He is a Past President of the San Diego
Eye Bank and in addition has served on the Ophthalmology Supervisory
Committee at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Hospital and Sharp Memorial Hospital and limits his practice to medical

Dr. Bitner received his
medical degree from the University of Nebraska where he
was honored by his induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical
society. After completing both his residency and
fellowship at the United States Naval Hospital, he entered into
private practice in San Diego in 1963. He is a pioneer
in vitreoretinal diseases in San Diego and has practiced
the subspecialty exclusively
since 1968.
He is a member of the
American Academy of Ophthalmology, Past President of the
San Diego Surgical Society and the San Diego County
Ophthalmological Society.
He is a Past Chief of
Ophthalmology at Scripps Mercy Hospital and a Past
President of the San Diego County Eye Bank. Dr. Bitner is on staff at
Scripps Mercy Hospital and limits his practice to
medical retina. |
